Wal-Mart-Asda setting up supply contingency plans
Asda, the Wal-Mart-owned UK retailer, has said it is working on contingency plans in case one or more of its suppliers go into administration. The move comes following the collapse of Woolworths and fears about Premier Foods’ future. An Asda spokesperson said: "We're going through our business and planning contingencies so that if and when another supplier goes into administration we can secure supplies elsewhere. It's in our interests to keep suppliers healthy though. We'd rather not have to look elsewhere - but it may be inevitable in some cases."
