Starbucks looks to the Russian south
Starbucks is to open coffee shops outside Moscow, reports РБК daily. The company is set to open stores in the south of Russia. Three sites have been announced so far, all of them in the North Caucasus economic region. This is the first time since entering the market that the US-based chain has ventured into the Russian hinterland.
The first café will open in Sochi, site of the 2014 Winter Olympics. Additional locations will follow in Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar within the next 12 months. The decision to develop in the south is due to the demand for quality coffee and the perceived economic dynamism of the region.
