Russians have planned to spend 537 Euro on New Years celebrations
Russians have planned to spend 537 Euro on New Year celebrations, including expenses for food, gifts and entertainment. This number is a 12% increase in comparison with 2007, researchers from Deloitte have reported. In the beginning of October Deloitte made opinion poll, wherein 800 persons took part - inhabitants of 6 biggest Russian cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg) aged 18 and 65. According to the data from the research, Russia, with its level of expenses, join in with France, Belgium and Switzerland and leave way behind Germany and Holland. Ukrainians are only ready spend 235 Euro on the celebration. "This research suggests that New Year is more important for Russians than any crunch. If the forecasts will hold many Russian retailers might face another problem - they can have empty shelves" - said partner of Deloitte Egor Metyolkin. In economical forecasts for 2009 Russian respondents show optimism: 26% expect that the economical situation in Russia will be change for the better.
