Kesko restructures buying strategy
Finnish retailer Kesko has said that it would intensify the co-operation between its chains Anttila, K-citymarket and its other home and speciality goods subsidiaries. The move comes as the company seeks synergy benefits in goods purchasing, management and customer relationship management. As of the beginning of 2009, Kesko’s primary segments will include food, home and speciality goods, building and home improvement as well as car and machinery trade. The K-citymarket hypermarket format, including home and speciality goods chains K-citymarket and K-retailer, responsible for food will remain unchanged for customers. Kesko Food will concentrate on the food trade and on the grocery wholesale trade, carried out by subsidiary Kespro. All existing home and speciality goods chains will continue to operate separately.
