Home Retail Group to make up to 300 Homebase staff redundant

Home Retail Group-owned UK DIY retailer Homebase may make up to 300 staff redundant as it seeks to adjust its store leadership structure in light of present economic conditions. In a statement, Homebase said: “The changes will create a more efficient and effective structure and help us protect our levels of customer service while reducing costs. The restructure will potentially affect up to 300 colleagues across the business.” Homebase employees were informed of the consultation on 28 January. The retailer said it will “make every effort to minimise the number of redundancies necessary” and anticipates the process will be completed by mid-March. This latest consultation is separate from Homebase’s consultation for about 100 roles, which is ongoing and started last year.
