Carrefour plans further expansion at Turkey and to keep up fast expansion at Romania

Carrefour Turkey plans further expansion

Carrefour has announced plans to open new stores in Turkey next year despite an expected economic slowdown. The retailer said it had invested more than EUR100 million (USD144 million) in 2008 and opened 38 stores. Carrefour plans to maintain that growth for next year. The retailer also said it would freeze prices on its products for at least three months.

Carrefour Romania to keep up fast expansion in 2009

As reported by Piata, Carrefour plans to open between ten and 12 hypermarkets and, at least, ten supermarkets in Romania next year. By the end of the year, the retailer is expected to operate a network of 22 hypermarkets, which is double compared to the end of last year, and 19 supermarkets.
