Best Buy announces management changes

US-based consumer electronics retailer Best Buy has announced that Scott Wheway has been named Chief Operating Officer of Best Buy International. The former Boots the Chemists Managing Director will play a key role in launching the retailer in Europe. Wheway, who also spent 20 years at Tesco and held a variety of senior roles there, will report to Best Buy International Chief Executive Bob Willett and be responsible for operations in Canada, China, Mexico and Turkey as well as the European arm, which is a joint venture with Carphone Warehouse. The company also announced the promotion of Neville Roberts as Enterprise Chief Information Officer. Neville Roberts takes over as CIO of the company, replacing Bob Willett, Chief Executive of Best Buy International who also held the office of CIO since 2004. Roberts joined Best Buy last January as CIO of Best Buy International after an 18-year tenure with Accenture, having last served as Senior Partner in its Global Retail Practice. www.planetretail.net
