ALDI postpones Texas entry
Aldi USA has postponed its market entry into Texas to spring 2010, from the previously planned launch for autumn 2009. According to local press reports, the discount retailer confirmed some of its future locations in the north of the US state, as it plans to open at least 25 stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The initial list includes new construction, space in existing shopping centres that it will convert and former free-standing Albertson's and Super 1 Foods stores. Last summer, it begun building a USD40 million distribution centre in Denton to support stores in Texas and Oklahoma.
